Let me preface this by saying that I hate rosy barbs. The males look like feeders and the females look like bait.

However, I have some hair algae issues, and could use something to eat the stuff. Rosies, unfortunately, are one of the leading candidates, seeing as they are less aggressive than flagfish. Are they likely to bother shrimp though? I have cherries and sunkist. Because I don't want any fish at all, and certainly not rosies, I am probably going to get as few as possible (ie. one). Will the lack of a companion to harass make it more likely to bother the shrimp...and snails for that matter?

Yes there is a good chance they will harass the adult shrimp and will hunt down the young for food as well.... If they do not right away they will learn eventually that shrimp are pretty tasty.

My Tetras and Guppies in a community tank at my home also have learned this about the shrimp we added 2 years ago, but the tank is well planted and the shrimp population maintains itself. So it is doable especially if your fish are well fed.

In my shrimp only tanks for breeding I would not ever add fish of any kind for this very reason. So depends on your overall intentions.
