I just wanted to know how can you tell the difference between male and female ruby clown rams? I have 3 ruby clown rams and was just wondering how to tell the difference.

What is a ruby clown ram? Do you mean Mikrogeophagus altispinosus? aka bolivian ram?

if you do, then females have a rosy colored belly, which becomes more vibrant during spawning mode, and the males first couple dorsal spines grow longer than the females as they mature.

Yeah Bolivian Ram. I bought them under the name Ruby Clown Ram though....oh well...lol. What kind of food do you recommend I feed them?
I'm feeding them flakes and granules. I started to feed them frozen bloodworms too. Which I feed them every other day.

there are plenty of smaller, sinking cichlid pellets that would probably be a good staple.

female bolivian rams do not get a pink belly, only German Blue rams do. a good way to tell males from females is to look at the fins. the male's anal and dorsal fins will be pretty long, extended, and tapered at the end. the females will be shorter and a bit blunter.

Thanks for the information guys. I'll try to get some small cichlid pellets for them.

honestly, i think it's pretty freakin' difficult to tell them apart. post some pictures if you can.

I'll try to post some pictures of them soon.
But I'm guess they are all the same sex since they more or less look the same. Except the one is smaller than the other two.

Ok here are some pictures of my Rams.
