can they go together??? i would like to add some to my tank but i want to make sure they will work together

so what could i get then...i want a small schooling fish like the rummys but i have limited choices and no i dont want cardinals or neons! they're going into my 50g. in my signature!

I did a compatability search and it said larger tetras like congo's or bleeding heart tetras might work. It also said gouramis are good tank mates but i don't know how that would fit with your bolivians. hopefully someone else will chime in for you.

stocking ideas for 45 gallon tall?

oops!

If I were you I would make sure to put other fish of comparable size and/or aggression levels. I've had a red zebra cichlid with my small school of barbs for a little while now and I remember the first day they were verrrry aggressive. Just keep an eye on them and make sure whoever you introduce is big enough to challenge the barbs to keep them away if necessary.

I have tiger barbs and rummys together in a tank, and they are doing fine together. My tiger barbs chase each other, but no one else. (I have 6 tiger barbs and 3 rummys, I know, not enough rummys to make a proper school, but it's all I could find in my area and I've never found them again) I have had them together for about three months, and no problems.

Forgot to mention, the tank is a 29 gallon.

yeah, i kind of went against the whole "not a good idea" thing and got 7 of them to make a nice school. the tiger barbs don't even acknowledge them, i think if the rummies were bigger it might be an issue but the tiger barbs are considerably bigger then the rummys so its all good! they look really good now though, they're schooling quite nicely!

Rummies are fast tetras, so I don't see a problem with keeping them with the Barbs. I'd be more worried about the Barbs and the Rams (although they should be aggressive enough not to get nipped). Rummies don't have long fins, so they will be fine with Barbs.
