Hi Guys

I currently own a 20g community tank.

I know that my tank is way to small for the common pleco, however I have seen a local advert for a L077 Rusty pleco and have been told that these guys will grow to about 6" - 8". Is this to big for my tank?

Also I am tempted in getting a pair of Bristlenoses, do these guys spawn often? How old do they need to be?

As always appreciate the advice!

6-8 inches really is a bit big for a 20 gallon tank. I would say stick to a single bristlenose in a tank that size (a breeding pair if there are no other fish).

Yeah I kinda got the feeling he would be a bit to big for the tank. I think ill stick to the BN. Shame as the advert was selling him pretty cheaply.

Not to be picky but you should also potentially have a new home in mind for that Red Tailed Black Shark. They can get rather huge as well and very aggressive as they age. An adult can easily be 6 inches if not stunted, and it may not take kindly to a BN Pleco in such a small foot printed tank.

I know mate. At the moment he is smaller than an inch, I could not help it as I love these little guys. He would defo go if he started becoming a problem however I have read that not all RTB sharks become aggressive, as much as a long shot this may be I shall keep my fingers crossed. If worse came to worse we have a lfs who are often adopting fish that have overgrown/become aggressive as they have some pretty cool larger tanks.

The L077 should also grow larger than 6-8". I think it will max out around the 12" mark, So it would be to large for the tank.
