S.Dollars tank size?

I have 3 dollars in a 190 litre tank (juwel trigon). I'm interested to know what you guys think about this size tank. If you're not familiar with it, it's a bow fronted corner tank. The boys are all very healthy and happy at the moment, but they're already getting on for 4". They were only 1" three months ago. They share the tank with 5 juvenile congo tetras, 2 small keyhole cichlids, a rubberlip plec and a selection of 5 corys.

I don't feel water quality will be a problem as it's a mature tank and I keep a regular cleaning regime. If anyone here keeps dollars I'd be interested to know your opinion.They're not as common here as on that side of the pond. Appreciated, cheers.

I'm from Midlands UK too, I currently have 5 dollars and 6 angels in a 200Lt tank. I bought 5 as I was advised that they like to be in groups of 5 or more.
They are about 2" now, I feed them on flakes and pellets, although they apparently like romaine lettuce now and again ( yet to try it)
I also have a variety of cichlids in a 6foot tank and a hopefuly breeding pair of dempseys in a 3foot. I keep a guppy tank too to entertain and treat them. There are a few good sites that are very informative, my favourite being: badmanstropicalfish.com.

How weird's that??!! I tried on my U.K based forum and no one seems to keep dollars, I reckon they're all a bit precious about their plants
Thanks for the reply debs, do you give them any fresh veg? Mine go mental for courgette and shelled peas and I replant every few weeks. I originally had 2, they seemed fine but I added another in case they had emotional problems :sad Now they chase each other around all day.
Whereabouts are you? (I'm married, not a stalker, don't worry )

I Live in northamptonshire, aquatic shops are very limited.Where are you from? Fish was initially my husbands hobby, but I soon got the bug. I eventually want to gain enough knowledge to be able to keep and breed discus.
At the moment we have 5 tanks. 1 x 6', 1 x 4', 2 x 3', and a 3' guppy tank for feeding and entertaining my cichlids.My fish are: 2 x 6" albino oscars
2 x 3" blue acara
4 x convicts
1 x 8" pleccy
these are all in the 6' and will be over crowded when they are full grown.
5 x silver dollars
6 x assorted angels
these are in the 4' and again when they are fully grown it will be over crowded. 2 x 3' tanks with fancy goldfish in, and a breeding pair of JD's.
My dollars eat live bait bloodworms etc, and will probably eat small fry as the angels do. they love big areas to swim in as they get to dart around all over. I have one quite shy one the others have there days. Temp is set at 80 and I do weekly water changes. Making sure that there is no drastic temp. change. My ph is 7.5, and I have good ammonia and nitrate readings.
You sound like you have a fair few fish in your tank, it could overcrowd but as long as you do water changes and keep an eye on your ammonia and nitrate levels you should be fine, the reason we have so many tanks is because of overcrowding and lack of knowledge of fish.

It looks like the only advice is going to come from someone who lives down the road! I live just off j22 on M1 in leics. Sounds like you've got MTS (multi tank syndrome) I know what you mean tho, I'd have a few more if I was allowed, including a cichlid tank. As I could only have one descent size tank I opted for a community with the dollars as my feature fish, they've gone from being quite reclusive to being the first at the glass begging for grub, I've got really attached to them and want them to grow to their full potential, hence the question about tank size. I reckon they'll be fine, but if they seem cramped when they reach 6" I'll upgrade to a bigger tank. Anyway thanks Debs, catch you another time

they should be fine in the trigon mate , i have in a trigon 350 along with several other fish , trigons because of their shape can hold more fish per litre !
