I found the elusive SAE at last ! After giving up on ever finding any my lfs had some, any tips on keeping them. There in a 50 gal. tetra tank with a lot of plants.

Stable water params, no ammonia, nitrite.
If your aquarium lacks a lot of good algae then add algae tablets or else try adding some zucchini or cucumber. They seem to like that.

Shrimp gumbo, shrimp salad etc...
The SAE's are the best, they do a way better job of cleanin my tank than my CAE's do and they arent aggressive...what I would suggest is to go buy a fake plant that reaches up to the edge of the water...leave it in there for a little bit and it will probbably start growin algae if the conditions are right...and my SAE's LOVE the algae that grows on my fake plants...I dont ever feed them anything and them and the ottos stay happy!!!
