Safe after dropsy?

I used the tank I've been setting up for shrimp (1.5 in signature) as an emergency quarantine for a fish that got suddenly ill (thread here). I treated with Maracyn for 4 days before the fish died, and I still don't know what the cause was for the sudden bump/wound/dropsy.

So the questions: After a 100% water change, will the tank be safe for cherry shrimp and ramshorns? Or should I wait a while before stocking, to ensure whatever-it-was is gone? I don't intend to ever put fish in it - it will just be shrimp/snails/plants.

Did you wash it out with hot water? That never hurts, especially after having used medicine in it, because I'm not 100% but I think that most (if not all) medicines are bad for inverts. That being said, i've successfully used a tank that another fish has died in to house new fish without any ill effects. Just make sure it's clean!

I haven't touched it yet, since the fish died just a few minutes ago. I'd like to avoid another cycle if I can, so I was hoping I wouldn't have to do anything that would kill the bacteria colony. I've used Maracyn with ramshorns before, with no losses, but I've never had shrimp - and I wasn't sure if anything would transfer from fish to shrimp (not terribly worried about snails, haha). I guess I'll take the gravel out and give it a good wash to be safe. Hot water's better than bleach, though! Thanks for the reply :)

=3 no problem. you could always wash out the old gravel, then take some gravel from an established tank and switch them. The clean gravel probably wouldn't hurt the other tank and the old gravel would help recycle the cleaned out tank.

Haha, only problem is that the gravel for this tank is black, and my 10g is a mix of brown and white.
MAN, I spent hours getting that gravel pure black, too. It came with purple gravel mixed in, so I picked it out piece by piece...

Sorry for your loss :(. I would use a 10% bleach solution.

Should mopani wood be bleached? That's where I'm most concerned any buggers might be hiding, aside from the filter.

Maracyn is not invert-safe. Make sure the tank is cleaned thoroughly. Any disease the fish has, cannot be transmitted to the inverts. Hot water will simply crack the glass. Use warm water with salt or use bleach solution.

It's a plastic tank. I don't trust my little brothers to take care of a glass tank, haha.
I think I like the salt water idea better than bleach. Thanks!
