How gradually should I add salt to my planted tank for an ich treatment. I know the dosage is recommended at 2tsp per gallon. Do I dose all at once or start off small and work up.

not even aquarium salt..many plants don't tolerate salt..it screws with their ability to exchange water.
the damage may happen and not appear right away.
the change in the osmotic pressures can damage the cell walls..the structure of the cell walls of plants differes from that of animals.
end result is the walls in plants in essence are not as flexible(woody structure)

Most of the chemical treatments are also harmfull to plants. I believe products that contain malache green (such as Rid Ich) are the best bet for planted tanks.
I prefer salt and heat however. I'd add 2 Tbsp noniodized salt per 5G over
a couple days and gradually raise the temp up to about 85, doing a partial water change and gravel vac every day .
When the symptions dissappear I would stop adding salt but continue the partial water changes another 3 days and then gradually bring the temp back to normal.

I use Quick Cure in my planted tanks without any harm to the plants. But I use the tetra dose (1/2 dose) because of my shrimps and other delicate critters. Still works fine. I usually dose for 4 days. Remember to replace your carbon filter with floss when treating a tank

Really? even aquarium salt? I added some Aquarium Salt into my 10 gallon since my cherry shrimp was sort of stressed due to shipping and hes fine and so are my plants. But thats because I added half a tbs.

salt is salt.. aquarium salt is no different.

IME salt is ok in a planted tank for a short period of time. On the few occasions I had ick I just uded heat and it went away in a few days and never came back. Raise the temp to 90 and aerate the water you will see the ick dissapear in just a few days.
