Salt water testing kit

Ok, tho...what would he gain from a MH and would he need a chiller then for that watt. of a light you said, or could he go with 1-175 or 150 watt light instead?

Make sure you test test test, skimmers can take out good things as well, if calcium levels are low feel free to add liquid calcium to bring it to the desired area. So even if at the moment you dont need to add chemicals, make sure you are ready to add them incase you do.
Your B/F (sorry that i said cousin) would gain lots more watts and lumens meaning the corals will thrive more and possibly he might be able to get sps corals or anemones. No you might not need a chiller, just make sure the light hood is a few inches above water line and there are fans built into the hood. If during the summer it gets too hot then you might need a chiller

sorry i must have missed that, the 12 gallon nano doesnt NEED a skimmer, but i highly recommend it. An AquaC remora nano skimmer is the best nano skimmer on the market, stay away from the fission nano skimmer. With a skimmer it will be a bit easier to keep nitrate levels down.

96 watts is not enough for most corals, go with an MH that has 2 150 watts and then add either T5 actinic or PC actinics.

Dont really need to add any chemicals in your tank, the good quality salt mix should have it all in there.
under 2 65w PCs i was able to successfully keep LPS corals and all soft corals, that only leaves out SPS corals PCs can work just fine halides are best but not needed.

ok, can the plastic part going across the top middle of the aquarium that the glass sits on be cut off? or is it holding the tank together.

dont cut that off, it is keeping the tank together by supporting the glass

ok, cause if i was to buy a mh light with only 1 bulb in the middle, the plastic strip that use to support the middle of the glass top would be in the way of the light

no camera, and yes it would block alot of the mh bulb, cause the plastic strip runs down the middle of the tank, from back to front and thats where the bulb is located, so it would make me have to spend more money and get a 2xmh set up
