I have a 20g tank to play with and I was thinking about saltwater. I have several freshwater tanks;150 and a 55 gallon. Whats the seceret to a easy startup and the bennifits/down side to it only be a 20g saltwater? I would really appreciate any suggestion you all may have. thanks!

the secret is actually learning the animals and doing research about it. it will pay off the most...if you know it alredy then u can do it. i learned everything i know about fish from reading and then after applying that for the hands on experiences...but it was a breeze because i knew what to do.

hope u decide to enter the amazing world and options of saltwater!:)

My first marine is a 20g and I've found it very easy to look after. The water params are stable, its fairly low on maintainence and doesn't need to be fussed over. I did lots of research, months worth, before I set it up and I'm very glad I did. Like Germanman said if you know your stuff its a breeze. It's a little bit more work than a freshwater aquarium but the rewards are woth it :).

The most important thing is go slowly, ask lots of questions and look at how other people have set their tanks up.

I think the 2 most important things when turning to saltwater is patience and research.

One of my quarantine tanks is a 20-gallon and I have no problems with it. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles as my larger ones but I still find it easy to take care of (even easier than the larger ones).
