I finally see the good side of having a tiny house Power bill usually $90. If you can find some place to get water cheap...55gal barrels are good for hauling water. You can find used barrels that have had apple juice in them at feed supply places. We used to use them to haul water to our horses before the well was put in. Of course for this you would need a truck of some sort. Also make good dog houses if you cut the end off…opps think I may have just proven I’m a redneck, but the dogs really thought it was cool and that’s what counts right?

Time to start digging a well! On a serious note, I can sympathize. Jersey is not much better. Electric is out the roof, but I couldn't tell ya how much water is (it's included in my rent) and my parents have well water. It's probably really expensive like everthing else here.
A bigger problem with the drought here in Cali is that it will effect the entire U.S. and Canada. Just wait to see what the prices for veggies and milk are going to be if we don't get 150% of normal precipitation by April.
we just moved to rural north carolina, and when i read the original post, i ran to get my bill and check out our kWh usage.
Our usage was 2,796 for the month (tons of christmas lights - 4 decorated trees for crying out loud!) and our bill in a 3 bedroom ranch w/2 baths was $285 and I thought I was going to puke. I have been pissy all week, telling the mrs. to turn off lights, and keep the t-stat down., and put on another sweatshirt!
compared to san diego, i guess i should just shut up, huh?

If we had rain, we wouldn't be paying through the nose for water.
Currently I pay a water mill bi-monthly and that runs about $260, so divided by 2, that would equal about $130. Talks suggest that the rates would double to quadrouple by June so that could potentially put my bill anywhere fom $260 to $520 based on my current water usage.
Someone else mentioned how nice San Diego looks and that they water lawns and it looks green. Yes, that is true. In fact, the city uses 3.18 BILLION gallons of water every year to accomplish this. I'm sure they don't pay what I pay. If they do, it would explain why San Diego is broke!

I've managed to keep my electric bill low compared to others in tennessee.. last month was about 83.00 but i have gas heat..it (gas) was 192.00 last month and 193. this month..havent gotten this months electric yet..i've been unplugging everything not being immediately used..
