Nitrite 11 PPM??? Yeah, that'll do it.

It's fairly obvious the tank wasn't cycled. I suggest hopping down to the Freshwater Newbie Forum and checking out a great thread near the top called: Sticky: Cycle. It explains the process by which aquaria gain nitrifying bacteria in order to sustain fish by eliminating their waste, otherwise known as cycling. It's a very good read and after you understand that, you'll find fishkeeping becomes quite a bit easier.

u guys are tottaly right i guess i might of had skipped that part hehe,,, :D i just needed to see the aquarium ,,,sorry bout the problems i can be a little quick sometimes but cycle yea i know cycle its as bike! nah j/k i got my 25 gal up and running for a year and yes i did cycle ,,all levels are within normal paramters and i got a bio wheel that makes cycling a new bio wheel compatible settup easy ...thank for all your help (i feel bad about those poor damaged goldfish) i feel like a mad scientist with his lab rats,..........

NitrItes were more than likely the culprit. Those are quite high and the fact that you are showing nitrItes means that you dont have enough of a bacteria colony to successfully turn the nitrItes into nitrAtes.

I use play sand and other than occasionally when it gets into the impeller of my filter and starts makin noises its perfectly harmless.
