I've been spending weeks cleaning my sand cause of some wierd disease my tank got a while back.

The sand has been sitting in a bucket with a water/bleach mix. Daily, I use a potatoe bag, and fill a little bit of sand, and run water through it to get rid of the bleach.

now my question. I will have about 4 inches of sand in my tank.The sand has asome crushed coral in it already. Seeing how I have to go through all the sand anyway, should I strain the sand and take out all the crushed coral in it? I read another post that suggested it might not be a good idea to have CC in the tank, but feelings are mixed when it comes to this. Can anyone give me some advice?

When and if I do take out the cc, can I use it for something else? Maybe the fuge? or is it pretty much wasted??

Depends on how much c.c. is mixed in with your sand, If there is just a little less than 20% it shouldn't cause you any problems at all. Just seems like a bunch of trouble to me why not just get new sand and not risk having bleach in your water? You can get it a home depot or any building supply store for next to nothing.

there is very little cc in the sand. Thing is, I spent quite a bit of money on this sand, and I wouldn't want it to go to waste. I also like the grade of the sand. When I rinse it, I use very small quantities at a time, and I rinse for a long time. So it should do the job.

If it's a small amount, then I wouldn't worry about the cc. The usual problem with cc is the graon size causes large gaps that allow detritus to collect. If the big grains are surrounded by a lot of small grains, that shouldn't be an issue.

A little cheap dechlorinator or sunshine will take care of any residual chlorine from the bleah.

cool, so after I rince all the sand, if I let it all sit and dry in the sun, will that be ok ?

Should be fine, once it's dry.
