about two weeks ago, I noticed my male guppy was starting to get fat. I lightened up on my feeding. After finally fixing a light problem that I had for the last couple of days I noticed with shock that this guppy is now more than freakishly large. Is he having an indigestion/constipation problem? This is getting weird... has this ever happened to any of you?

Are you sure its a boy?
Females get mighty big sometimes when they're pregnant... Or it could be bloated for overfeeding or it could have dropsy. I believe dropsy involves inflatted stomach.

this is no case of dropsy, and I am pretty sure it is not overfeading. I have cut back alot from my original feeding exercises and also refrain from feeding on Sundays. This fish looks like he seriously may explode at any time. That is why I am thinking digestion/constipation issues. He looks like a cartoon character who puts something bigger than his body into his mouth and swallowed it, causing his stomach area to freakishly expand.

parasites, I didnt think of that... also my cameras batteries are toast at the moment, but I might be able to snap one more.

If you think your guppy would eat, try a cooked pea with the outer shell removed. This usually works like magic to expel any internal blockage that causes constipation. if the fish is not eating, Epsom salts can be dosed as a laxitive. If you've seen any clear or white, segmented strnigy poo from the fish, it would be a good indicator of parasites.

He is being extremely camera shy at the moment and will not leave his post under the log. I will keep checking, though, and like the poparazzi, I will get my pic! But what kind of parasite is this that bloats fish?
