Hello all,

I promised a very good friend of mine that I would post this here among other animal lovers.

http://www.savefoxley.org/

He is coming up against some tough vet bills and put together a web site looking for small donations.

I hope that me posting this here isn't against any forum policy. If so I apologize and please remove.

His dog has recently had an injury similar to what my basset hound had. Unfortunatley, I couldn't afford the $2000 surgery to repair my dogs leg and he now struggles with chronic arthritis and a limp at the age of 4.

He is a young guy and I admire what he is doing to try to help his dog so I post this here.

Thank for reading,
-Devitaf

Poor dog, I just hope the whole thing is legit. I just had my boxer in for her 3rd surgery this time to remove a lump on her heel. The first one was a mast cell tumor, so now every lump with any of the cells in it they want to remove. This runs about $200-300 for EACH surgery along with the $600-800 we spent with the first tumor to take her to an oncologist  !!! I think I need to set up a donation fund :o

A couple of days before we went in for the last surgery she was limping and they thought she had the same problem as Foxley (equivalent to a torn ACL), but it turns out to just be some spraining. They said if it was the ACL, she would need to go to a specialist....

I wish them luck, the things we do for our pets :o

I know it's tough to believe anything on the web. In the last 3 years I have been a member here I have never posted any like this (mostly just funny photos really :P). It's not a copy and paste of a spam mail but an actual friend. I'd be skeptical as well, and I explained to him that most people would be. However, he knows I'm a member of several boards and asked me to post it.

So I did. :).

Well, call me a sucker but I donated. I'm trusting you though DeVitaf. If this turns out to be a con I'll have to show up at your house ;)

I posted his site on my blog too.

I sent it along to be passed around too.... am on my way to post to my sister's site. I would have totally thought it was a scam too if I didn't see it coming from you, DeV....

Wish I'd thought of something like this when my dog needed hip replacement surgery. I had to choose not to do it because of the cost. She ended up dying of complications of the pain and antiarthritis meds she was on, she was only 7. How can an individual pay for something like that?

It really is a great idea. There's enough animal lovers out there willing to give a couple of bucks. You get enough of them together and could really help offset costs. I'd much rather give a few dollars to help heal a dog than spend on a value meal and see the dog limp in pain the rest of his life.

So you actually know this guy devitaf?? I can't imagine not being able to give the care to our pets that we have been lucky enough to do. I would be heart-broken. I'm sorry for all of you that couldn't have things done for whatever reason. My husband and I are fortunate enough to have been able to afford the ridiculous vet bills so far. We are not rolling in money by any means, but it has been attainable so far. Our pets are being considerate enough to space out their health problems  .

If you do know Foxley, be sure to post updates on how hes doing and how the fundraising is going!! I'm a sucker for a good animal story!!
