i was in petco tonight and was looking at the bettas showing my wife the fish see if i can get her interested in fish. i hardly ever look at the bettas just thought they would not be good for my tank and they just sit there, but since asking about them on this site thought i would show the wife see if she likes them
so we see abunch in the cups and i notice they have the crown tails
any way they had so many bettas they had 2 displays and a few on a counter where they store testing equipment and the bags the fish go home in on the counter was a few of those betta vases and one had those glass beeds kind of look like marbles with a flat side and right there the betta had his head stuck firmly in the glass beeds:help: so i put my hand in the vase and moved some of the beeds so he could get his head out seemed fine after that but i would have never had noticed (since i never closly looked at bettas before) if not for this site and the people that use AC and keep it alive.
:) thank you all

i dont know these were glass i tousched them and he was thrashing trying to get out

not sharp they ar smooth i see them for sale in craft stores people put them in clear vases instead of water and a flower

Awww that is great that you helpe the poor guy out! Maybe it was meant to be and you should go buy him and make him your own.

yeah but i never buy fish at petco well havn't yet always ick and dead fish in tanks but they seem to be the only place with the crown tails but who knows i guess the bettas would be the best fish to buy there the water gets changed every day

I find that "not" to be true in many stores. I frequently go into the major pet chains, and find their bettas in their customary "betta cups" in old, poopy water with the fish's slimecoat floating around. :mad2:

Bettas are actually pretty active if they have enough room to move around and oxygen in their water and all that good stuff. I mean they're not gonna dart around like danios but I had one in a 10g tank one time and he was a lot happier and more active than I would have expected. I used to work at an LFS and I convinced the owner to just put one betta in each community tank instead of keeping them in the 1/2 gal jars she had them in. Our betta sales skyrocketed once people saw how they behaved in larger tanks.

i always check out the betta section at fish stores, usually you might find a delta or crowntail at a great price and coloring. good thing you saved that betta though, it would have suffocated.
