I'm getting some Seachem prime shortly.

My tank has been up and running for over a month now and is fully stocked.

Is it worth adding it to the main tank as well initally?

Or should I just add it for the amount of water I'm changing during my weekly water change?

Per the instructions, if you are pre-mixing the prime in buckets of water, add for the volume of the water change.

If you are refilling straight to the tank, add for the volume of the tank, not the WC volume.

Do you mean just pouring it in your tank without a water change ? If so then no. If you are doing water changes with a python dose your whole tank otherwise mix each bucket seperately and give it 5 minutes. My trick is to put the prime in the bottom of the bucket and let the proper temp water fill the bucket. It mixes much faster this way.

It's not needed unless you are trying to detoxify harmful nitrogen compounds until you can do a water change...if not, wait until the water change.
exactly :werd:

great purchase on the prime IT is the BEST bang for the buck !! it stinks..LOL ~ but works too well , and the small amount you use, it will last forever it is like one capful for 50 gallons !!! I am soo hooked on the prime over everything else !!! but NO, you do not add it to the tank that is already established, just when you do your water change, which should be once a week, so soon !!!
