I just thinned my tiger lotus, and vals, and moved the vals back to the background, the little creatures take over if you let then lol, And added my seachem root tabs under my lotus and along the back of the aquarium for the valls. I like the results that I get from this product, But I have never tried anything else. I have been unable to find the correct jobe's plant sticks in my market area. What is everyone else using and how does the product compare with the results of using seachem?

No one has done scientific comparison testing of aquarium fertilizers. All reports will be anecdotal.
In my experience as a thrifty DIY'er, I get more differences between tanks due to fish load and lighting than I ever saw from a specific root fertilizer.

The Jobe's spikes just happen to be readily avaialble for me.
I get mine from the local Tru Value Hardware store. $2.29 for 30. That makes 90 root tabs.
Jobe's Plant Food Spikes for lush ferns and palms. 16-2-6
SKU number is 0 73035 15101 6

They are a bit more expensive from Amazon.com

Another great DIY is filling gelatin capsules with Osmocote fertilizer. Filling gelatin capsules is a lot less "fun" than breaking a Jobe's spike and sticking it under the substrate. If you order gelatin capsules in 500 or 1000, and purchase a bottle of Osmocote, filling will be several hours, but you'll probably never have to do it again. It's mindless activity though. You can pack a couple of years worth during one TV show.

if you do osmocote, get the osmocote+. the + has the micros too.

I've only ever used root tabs, and some gelatin's I bought online from a plant place, no noticable difference between the two other then the gel's were cheaper. These Jobes spikes you just cut them into thirds and stick them in the substrate like a root tab?

break them in half I beleive have them on order should have them by the end of the week.

Alot cheaper then root tabs, I'll pick up a package or two towards the end of the month when my next amazon order will be shipping.
