hello, i'm new to the forum and i need help. i have an established tank with 7 small corys and 1 young golden dojo loach. i want to add 1 or 2 more fish that are NOT primarily bottom dwellers like the others. however, i'm a big cory fan and i don't want to add an aggressive fish that will keep the corys from freely playing all over the tank, from the surface to the bottom.

anyhoo, i'm looking for a fish that: is peaceful, is alright with being solitary, is medium-sized, and has a bit of personality. Any Suggestions?

thanks,
hannah

Not sure which ones would be of an appropriate size, but what about a gourami?

thanks for the suggestions. the gouramis sound ultra-peaceful and likeable. are they alright on their own, or should i get a pair? any opinions on which gourami species has the most personality and the most peaceful disposition?

here comes a strange suggestion.... How about a Gar? As long as the gar cant fit a fish into it's mouth )in one shot) it will leave it alone. Problem is, they get big FAST!!!! But if you buy a baby, and let him grow, you should be ok.

I hope posting links is OK theres a compatibility chart at liveaquaria.com

if this isnt ok moderator please feel free to remove

mdcordeiro- its o.k. I do it all the time.

divja- I suggest you get one. you should usually only keep 1 male per two females, or 1 male alone, and I think the females are kind of...bland.
