This is a whine, whine, whine post.

The Tide has not had a team in years, finally won one big game and the Horns are ranked fifth.

Is something wrong with this picture.

Please also note that the hoopla by the national sportscasters over four of the Big Twelve teams being in the Top Ten is nowhere near the overwhelming decibel level before the vaunted SEC teams began biting the dust.

BTW and just in case anyone is wondering the small conference known as the Big Twelve South (six teams) holds three of the top ten positions.

TR

BTW again: when the Horns bite the dust in the Cotton Bowl on OU weekend this thread will self destruct!

The BCS is a flawed system and should be replaced by a true playoff system based on... WINS AND LOSSES (I know this is a radical idea), not based on how someone feels about them on a particular day. Go Dawgs!!!

And here I am ready to talk about the securities and exchange commission...*looks around and slowly backs out of the room*

heck the SEC is way over rated

We're talking something really controversial here!

When 8 knocks off 3 and 1 & 4 both manage to lose, 8 is going to move a lot.. I'm a Vol fan, hate Bama, hate the Gators, hate LSU, but by golly, they belong where they are because they are dominant forces.. People say "the SEC ain't all that" all day long.. blah blah blah.. In the end, when your schedule includes 5-6 teams that'll be in and out of the top 10 all season long, and you still have a zero in your loss column, then you can say someone is a great team.. Maybe you are forgetting that Clemson was #9 when Bama ripped em a new one? Knock of #9, then #3.. I'm sorry, but the only thing wrong with the current rankings is that Bama should be #1 over Oklahoma.. Oklahoma has 1 win against a ranked opponent this season, and that was #24 TCU.. I won't say they're not worthy of a high ranking, they look great, but they don't have the games to warrant #1 yet, nor will they have them all season with that schedule.. Should be LSU and Bama, 1 and 2, because they're the only 2 teams in the top 4 that have wins over anyone in the top 10.. Bama has 2, LSU has 1.. Missouri has none, Oklhoma has none..

Corax, I am with you. I would loudly protest any new ranking system based solely on wins and losses. Strength of schedule is the absolute best way to really rank teams. I personally feel it should be LSU, Bama, Okla right now, but we will find out in a few short weeks where Bama and LSU really fall. I can't wait to see that game!

Roll Tide!

The SEC simply beats up on each other. As the last two national Championships have proven. SEC=College football at its finest! Their are more good teams and elite coaches in the SEC than any other conference, BY FAR! Heck, Vanderbilt is ranked and Kentucky is undefeated!

...and UT would fall at about #100.. sad, sad time to be a Vol fan.. I'm predicting 3-7 season, which is fine by me cuz it moves Fulmer a little closer to retirement. The SEC isn't the only good conference, but I think it is the strongest top to bottom..
