Senegal Bicher + uber-planted 10g

Beautiful tank! I'm sure the bichir appreciates the plants and cover. Just be forwarned that they are clumsy brutes and have a tendancy to uproot plants as they flail themselves around  If you haven't already, I'd recommend picking up some Hikari Carnivore pellets (you might have to break them up a bit for him) to use as a staple diet for him. Good luck, and enjoy!

Cool Fish!

I think that you'll need to upgrade his tank sooner rather than later. These fish can grow to be 20" long and need a much larger tank than a ten gallon.

While some species of Polypterus (bichirs) can reach 20 inches and even 36"+, the senegal (Polypterus senegalus) maxes out at about 12", usually a little less. Its still definately going to need an upgrade, but a 40g or 55g will suffice

Also, even though your bichir and your beta seem like best buds now, I would be extremely careful with the two of them, and anything else in the tank large enough to fit in his mouth. I would hate for him to have a pretty red snack one night.

agreed :D
