My pair of Texas Cichlids eggs hatched about 5 days ago (first time), and have noticed that they had them all together in their pit/cave for the first few days. They then started moving them around the tank (55G). And all day today , they have them seperated at each end of the tank (female all they way at the left with a bunch of babies, and the male all they way to the left in the pit with a bunch). Is this normal behavior? I always thought they stayed all together.

I don't know what normal behaviour for Texas Cichlids would be with regards to breeding, but I think that a 55g might be too small in a few months, I could be wrong, though!

If nothing else, this will provide you with a *BUMP* and hopefully more eyes on your thread!!!

Thanks Chil.
They are still young. The female is about 6", and the male around 4". The 55G is plenty for them now, but when the male reaches adult size i may need to upgrade.
As an update, they don't have the fry seperated anymore, that only lasted a few days. They are all in the original pit now.
I have noticed some more interesting things. The male wants to bite my face off when i look in and the female seems to bully the male when he leaves the pit/fry.
Also missing some fry. I guess it could be the parents or the filters doing that.
