we have had our two severums for 2 weeks now, they are in a established 55 with a few silver dollars and barbs. My question is that i don't think they are very happy or something, they look nothing like pics i have seen of them, their color is nowhere near as good. we thought when we first brought them home that they might be sick, but they never did get sick and they are eating good. any ideas?

They are in a too small tank for a start.

Are you 100% sure they are a male and female? it's hard to tell unless they are old enough or have bred. If its a male and a male they could be fighting?

What are your water param?

It's most likley that they are just badly bred. And the colours just arent as good. They look fine in the photos.

i dont know if they are male or female, the water prams are norm. you may be right about the breeding, what a shame.

i wont breed them if they are not good breeding to start, i'll separate them if need be

hum... all the pic's i have seen, thier stripes dont look so bold and their coloring seems different

I know that it takes time for Severums to adjust & many times they seem to be washed out for a lot longer than some other fish. I'd say give them more time to get adjusted before you think the worst.

Color in the pic doesn't look so bad at all to ME!
