here's my boy

thought you might enjoy seeing my jag, how do you tell if they are male or female? i think its a male but dont know, i thought the females look different but they dont.

Glad to help, and I would say that you have a Male Jag. The males usually have more coloration that extends in to the fins. Their black spots also spread out more like a real jaguar where the females tent to keep their striping a little more. The males are a bit shorter and more torpedo like.
 
I can see what you mean by the spots spreading out more in the males, cool, thanks, so do you think he looks ok? i am going to get him his own 120 or better tank before too long, just for him. Do you know much about the parachromis loisellei ? i now managed to have three, one is twice the size of the other two, and i believe they are all males. I am probably asking for it in that one and may end up selling the two smaller ones.

Yeah Nice Jag...lol! As far as parachromis loisellei Ive never kept them. I have heard that they are a less agressive compared to other Guapotes. But with any other cichlid have varied agression levels. Oh I have read they are sensitive to foul water. Thats what I have read and really have no personal experience.
