So I got 6 cherry barbs, 2 males (uncertain), and 4 females. I took some pics of the 2 males. I know the difference is obvious but one of the male in questions isn't as cherry colored. At most he is half cherry but I still question it.

The first picture is a definitive male. The second picture is the male in question. The third picture shows the 2 males following each other with a female behind (the second fish is the male in question in this picture).

Male no question. The red color waxes and wanes with mood. If you think they're red now catch them when they spawn!

O.o So it continues... poor guy his/her gender is uncertain. The red cherry barb in question is actually a little more red than before. The males can turn brown like females right? Maybe he was being submissive and is now showing his redness.

I've barely had my cherry barbs for 10 hours and they already spawned -_- I got rid of the quasi male/female and got a true male today; I traded it in. But when I got home I saw the female drop eggs from the top of the tank as the other male chases her around the tank. I'm a grandpa now =P
