I'm not sure how many here culture their own live foods, but I am looking for a good mold-resistant recipe for culturing walterworms.
I started two cultures a few days ago using potato flake as the medium. One is booming atm, but is developing mold. The other, which wasn't seeded as heavily, developed a terrible odor as well as mold. I threw the second one out as it wasn't producing and smelled awful.
Now I am preparing to start a new culture, and would like to avoid mold issues. I know apple cider vinegar is a mold inhibitor (I use it in my fruit fly cultures), so I was thinking of using this instead of water. I'm not sure if the worms will do well with the vinegar or not though.
Any mold-resistant recipes or other tips would be great! Thanks
