I am currenlty about to cycle a FOWLR 30 gallon tank. I was curious if I could add a little plant life into my aquarium without going the coral route.

Does anyone have experience with shaving brush plants? Are they difficult to keep alive? Will fish/inverts eat them? Do they require special lighting of any kind?

Thanks.

I have four in my tank right now. My fish don't eat them and I have had them for about 2 months now. The only problem I have is that they seem to attract the red slime algae that I've been having a problem with lately.

Do they look cool? Do you a picture?

I'll post some pictures when I get home tonight.

great!

how long should the tank be set up before you can get some of these plants? do they require special lighting. Im just using a basic marine light 24 inches.

They only really require medium lighting, not really any other special requirements, you can put one of these in anytime after the tank has cycled really....

These have always reminded me of Bonsai Trees...dont know why, prob because they do look a little like a miniture tree....lol...
