Shipping w/ hot weather

I am in a bad location for getting fish stuff as the closest good fish store is several hours away so I will be getting most of my stuff shipped. Right now my tank has been running with just water in it(also growing lots of ugly algae) just to make sure everything is working good and check for any problems with equipment. Anyways, I've been looking at live rock online. I've been waiting for Premium Aquatics to get a shipment of Martial Island Rock in. If I buy from them, I am in a 2 day area for UPS ground shipping. Ground would cost about $80 to ship my live rock and sand while next day would cost almost $300. I was wondering if I wait til about October if 2 day shipping would be ok. I am in a rather colder area right now(in the mountains of West Virginia), but it is still very hot out this time of year. The other place I was thinking about getting my live rock from, Tampa Bay Saltwater, only ships FEDEX and Airport to airport. They told me that it is way too hot to ship Fedex and way to expensive ($5.50/lb. w/ minimum of $110). The airport to airport would be 2 shipments about $60-$80 each but the closest big airport from here is Pittsburgh, PA. which is about 3 hours or so away. There is a small airport in Morgantown WV. but it is tiny and I don't think I could use that one to ship the packages to.

What about getting it shipped to a larger town like Morgantown or Fairmont and picking it up there. Or maybe looking for a Aqua Club in your region and buy more locally.
