Shirakura is a known food to feed Crystal Red Shrimp. I heard of benefits of longer survival rate, color. Also I am sure you can feed the food to Cherry Red Shrimp, any benefits?

Someone would have to take the time to set it up and feed them only Shirakura and weigh the results against other feeds. I don't think it's likely to promote anything that a good varied diet wouldn't promote. I personally question Shirakura's reign as THE food to feed CRS, BUT I haven't had them (CRS) long enough or seen any factual data about it. I know there are a lot of respectable CRS breeders that use Shirakura and I am not questioning their word. My CRS seem to like Shirakura, Ebikuma, Tetra Microcrabs, Hikari Crab cuisine, and HBH Crab/Lobster bites equally well. If I had to say they went nuts for one more than the other, I would say they prefer the Microcrabs by Tetra :thud:. I've also read that it may take some time for them to get use to Shirakura but I prefer to feed variety instead of one food. Yes, Cherry shrimp like Shirakura too, but they also get variety :)

Shirakura has been a favorite of all my shrimp. They swarm that like nothing else I have tried so far. I also like it because it holds its form for a long time so you are able to remove the uneaten portion later. I still feed my CRS primarily shirakura but have moved away from it with my other species simply because it gets really cost prohibative with how many tanks I have.

I have it but prefer other foods to it. It does hold up nicely, but the shrimp respond more to kens catfish pellets and Hikari crab cuisine. I have been feeding it for over a year, exclusively for 6 months to the CRS and see no noticeable difference now that I am feeding them a varied diet.

lol no.... there is a lot of food out there that command a lot more then others. i have feed many kinds and for the most part the fish and shrimp seem to eat it the same. i save my money and get food from ketsfish. my cherry shrimp i feed catfish pellets too along with flake and algae wafers and others.
