should I lose the driftwood?

I just put a bunch of plants in yesterday, and spent most of the day either looking at pictures of planted tanks online, or working on my own. When it was done, I felt like it was still missing something.

Now, everything still needs to grow in, but I'm feeling that my drift wood is too heavy of a piece, and is taking up too much room, and some prime plant real estate. Most of the piece is hidden by plants now, but it is large, it has two branches coming off of a bulky base. I had to work hard to get it into the tank in the first place. It Streaches from one side of the glass almost to the other and takes up most of the middle of the tank.

So what say you? Keep the wood, or nix it? I could let my microsword grow futher back, and have a real midsection, opposed to just java fern propped up on wood. Bad side is that it will take more planning, planting, and money. Good side is, it might look better, and my fish will have more room.

A piece if driftwood looks great to me in your tank. Plus, it is a good thing for Java Fern and Anubias to grow on.

Just tie your Java Fern to it in a nice spot and it will attach itself a grow fantastically on the wood.

But it might be time for you to invest in a new stick-on liquid crystal thermometer. .

I tried ripping it off, that was the best i could do, there is a thermometer on the other side of the tank.

I like the driftwood in it. I just really like the "natural" look wood can give a plant. Your plants look so nice and I think the wood just balances it out.

Is that your 45 hex tank? It looks big enough to hold the wood, and the looks is nice. I would keep it.

Poll added! Yes, it is my 45gallon, I'm at work now (where I got this crazy idea) at home I have pictures of what the wood looks like with out many plants, so you can see what kind of room it takes up, I'll post those this evening.

Yucca Patrol: Where did you get that driftwood? It looks awesome! I've been looking for a nice piece of driftwood like that, but so far to no avail.
