I am not sure what to do here my problem is that on 26/10/05 my female Maingano produced her 1st batch of Eggs and she carried them up untill 13/11/05 when she spat them out herself with no intervention from myself and i was the proud father of 10 maingano young but yesterday (03/12/05) i noticed that she had another mouthful of eggs. I really dont no what to do as it has only been 20 days since she last had young and i feel as though she hasn't had enough time to fatten herself up and get strong enough to spend another 17 days without food, so what should i do any advice would be greatley appreciated.

Cheers, Derek.

You could strip her.... I usually stip my females if i really want the fry and am worried she will not hold to term. Just be really careful, and maybe give her a few day's rest.

Thats why a lot of people dont introduce the female back into the tank right away, give her a chance to plump up in a separate tank.

Its up to you :) but I would not be worried about her... if she can handle it then she will... if she gets too hungry she will start to eat and likely eat the eggs too.

I would only recommend stripping in case of a risk to fry's health when mom holds too long.

If you are worried about the mom, put her in a small tank and drop small flakes at the surface. She will learn how to eat the flakes and hold on to the fry's. :)
