Should I wait till I get back?

I have a few fish that's schools need filled out (congos tetras, pygmy Cory's, and khuli loaches) and I was planning on buying the congos and maybe the pygmys this week and putting them in quarentine, but a little over a week from now I'm going on vacation. I do have someone to watch the fish though and he would notice if a fish was sick and call me. He wouldn't be able to do water changes though but he could get medicine. Should I wait till I get back or just go ahead and get them? I have 2 congos, 4 khulis, and 2 pygmy Cory's.

I'd wait until you're in control of the situation. they're in no immediate danger by not being in a school
 
I agree with Glabe, you're fish probably aren't in any danger by not being in a full school. Also, you may notice issues with the QT'd fish that your friend may overlook and if any issues do arise water changes can be essential.

How long are you going away? Are you talking about emptying your main tank or do you have a QT tank setup that you are referring to?
 
A week and yea its a quarentine. I was gonna put the filter on another tank but does the water need to be emptied?

Unless you are restricted on water use, yes I would empty the tank for the next couple of weeks and put the filter on an established tank to keep it seeded (i'm assuming it is seeded already since it's gonna be used for a qt). If you don't want to or can't "waste" the water you could put a powerhead with a sponge or a another filter on the tank for that time to keep the water circulating and cover it to keep out the normal dust and whatnot.
