Hi Guys,
I never kept shrimp before.
ok.. New standard 3 foot tank, valis, christmas moss, java moss ,bog wood two pieces, amazon swordtank well a few months old, with some baby bn's , 4 small cory cats ( grow out tank), 2 kuhli loach and there were originally 20 vcherry shrimp and 10 crs,,
six weeks after starting up tank i Found 2 dead crs, nitrites 0 nitrates 0.25, ammonia 0, ph 7.2 ,water change immediately waited three days, another water change, two more dead crs and a dead cherry. All the rest are doing well and its 5 days on and another water change, The parameters are still the same.

Whats up with my tank i really want to keep the shrimp and breed them.
I vaccum every second day, shrimp are forever browsing and some have really grown big, but losses continue, i every third day, keeping water changes every 5 days,

All help accepted and telling offs aswell.
reagrds,
Denis

CRS can tolerate ph over 7 if slowly acclimated however, they usually do better at slightly acidic levels. Another important factor is having a temperature between 70-78F.

YES, my CRS live in PH around 6.2 and 72-74f.

Crystal Red Shrimp? If so they are not hardy as the cherry red shrimp, and just watching parameters will not let these guys live for long. Got to consider the soft/hard of the water to keep them alive, that is why people use ADA soil.

Feeding they every third day with tabs, there is always some courgettes and cucmber in the tank aswell as algae and bloodworm once a week..
They seem to feed well on all but are not really that hungry..Ok so whats the best way of dropping the ph....kh and gh parameters , what do u use guys find the best..
By the way i appreciats all the help guts, i will definitely lower the ph as soon as i figure out the best way from u lot..lol...

Cheers all
Regards,
Denis

A PH of 7.2 didn't kill your cherry shrimp. I doubt lowering the PH will resolve the problem.

RO water mixed in when changing is the cheapest and most effective way to lower your PH, GH, and KH all at once.

Pretty much. It stands for Reverse Osmosis - a process that uses a pressurized membrane to remove most particulates from the water. I use it primarily for drinking water. :) My tap has a ph of about 8. Water from my RO unit has a ph of about 6.4.
