Shrimp safe with Loaches (& other fish)?

Hi

I've heard people say that Loaches will eat shrimp. In anyone's practical experience, is this true??
...and at what size? I have 2" Pakistani Loaches and a 1.5" Clown Loach (all slowly growing, of course) - any problem for 0.5-1" shrimp?

What other small fish are a real danger to freshwater shrimp, if any?

Thanks,

Finley

Deffinately the clowns, maybe at 4" length, maybe less. Deffinately at their adult length of 12-16".

If you dont want to be loosing money in shrimp, then just devot a smaller tank to them, once there is enough you will see them swimming around the whole time.

Ask any of the loachaholics like me and we'll post an affirmative.;) Botiine loaches will always eat invertebrates regardless of the size and species. Shrimps in their molting stage are most vulnerable.

:iagree:

I tried this awhile back to make sure myself. Took 15 juvies out of the "farm" and placed 5 each into 3 of my tanks. In my 55 the Gourami and Yoyos took them super quick! In my 20, they lasted 2 days with the Apistos and in my 29 my Striped Raphael feasted on them in one night. If they can fit in the fish's mouth, they will be eaten from what I've seen.
