Because I like shrimp?

Ghost shrimp in particular are often used as feeders anyway. It seems hit or miss whether they get eaten or not. The current ghost shrimp has molted twice since I've had him with no issues. Other shrimp may not be eaten if they're larger or more equipped to deal with a slow moving betta.

I use ghost shrimp for feeders, however I've had marble shrimp/ singapore wood shrimp that do very well for filtering and are cool to watch. I have recently bought cherry shrimp that will hopefully breed like crazy - they eat blue algea.

Ghost shrimp are your best bet if they are getting eatin. They are the cheapest you can get, Cherry or other kinds of shrimp may be to costly to loose as a feeder.

FYI, I dont think a betta would mess with a bigger shrimp like a marble shrimp or vampire shrimp.
