Hello. I’d like to set up shrimp tank with sponge filter, some moss, ferns etc. I’ll use Turface PRO substrate. How do you guys cleaning substrate especially when there are a lot of tiny baby shrimps?
Can I have some “bandit” Corys in shrimp tank or there are better cleaning crew ?
If there are pictures of your Shrimp tank setup I’ll be very happy to take a look of them.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.:bowing:

When I gravel vac my RCS tank I do so just like any tank except instead of draining the water to a sink or garden I put it in a bucket. I let the bucket settle out for about an hour and net any shrimp that I see. I cant recall haveing any die using this method. I usually suck up 10-20 if I go to fast, If I take the time to shue away the shrimp then it is even less. I tend to chang about 4 gals of my 29 G tank every week sometimes twice a week. I use flourite and it never seems to be clean.
I cannot answer you question about the corys since I only have kept ottos with my shrimp.

I don't do gravel vacs at all on my shrimp tank. It's a 20 gallon long with a bubble filter. I simply top the water level off every week. Very rarely do I actually do a water change.

The cory's will most likely eat the baby shrimp once they're born. If you can get your population going before adding the cories, you may not notice much of a difference. I have a juvenile L-144 pleco in my tank and the shrimp population hasn't been affected.
