Is it possible to separate RCS and Yellow shrimp with a tank divider? I have an empty 20 gal and was thinking of setting it up with a tank divider - one side for my RCS and the other for some yellow shrimps. I just don't want them to interbreed. I think tank dividers have small openings that let the water flow through, does that mean baby shrimps will be able to get through? I just didn't really want to set up 2 separate 10 gals if I can help it. What do you think?

I would almost guarantee that the babies would become inter-mixed. A solid divider with a filter & heater on each side would work in theory, but would be alot more trouble than an additional 10 IMO.

i think u should just set up another 10. or if u want u can get another piece of glass and put it in the middle and make sure u seal it with silicon and add two filters and two heaters but imo i would just set up another 10.

I think with all the work that would go into modifiying your existing tank, it would be easier for you and more time efficient to just set up another tank. The pre-made dividers are not a good idea.

Prefab'd dividers are OK, if you're keeping fish or such apart. Baby shrimp are extremely tiny and can fit between the holes that allow water to flow from one side to the other.

I do have a tank (55G) that uses one, but I'm keeping the same species of shrimp in both sides. It's mainly to keep an aggressive Alpha male from attacking another Alpha male.

dang! guess i'm gonna have to set up another 10 gal! lol! so if i decide to get black blue berry shrimp, i'm gonna have to set up a 3rd 10 gal...and so on and so forth. this will never end! :)
