I've had a Panda Cory in my tank for quite some time and it's always been soooooo frustrating to me that he hides. I'd rarely get to see him, and he could dissappear for weeks at a time.
I recently got some Pennywort(basically a floating plant) and planted some of it in the substrate and I guess he feels secure with the new hiding places, cause he's out and about. What a difference.:)

If you get him 3 or 4 buddies, they'll come out even more.
good luck
:)

Getting/having a trio (or more if your tank permits it) is a good idea as they are schooling fish. They do like to hide though especially during the day though anyways...at least that is what I've observed with mine.

I had a group of 4 cories (leucolmelas) that were pretty shy. I added another 3 and their behaviour changed drastically. They feel more comfortable in a larger school as there are more pairs of eyes to watch out for danger.

I agree with the others -- your cory needs some playmates. Being in a school of four or five will make him feel much more secure. And their antics can be entertaining, too. There's something humorous about corys. :)
