My cory cat seems to have an open sore on the top of his head, right between his eyes. A couple weeks ago he had a white patch there, which I had treated with Melafix. It seems the sore is getting bigger, and today he won't eat and has just been laying in one spot. This morning I found him upside down in a plant, but he flipped over and swam to the bottom. Shoud I keep treating with Melafix, or does anyone have suggestions on something different? I tried to take a picture but our digital will not focus for how close I need to get to actually see the sore.

Well, the tank is still cycling, it is four weeks old. The pH is 7.6, Temperature 78, right now the Ammonia is at 0 as well as Nitrites and Nitrates(I used amquel last week when ammonia was high per the advice of fellow member). PWC are 40-50% every week, water is kept crystal clear. The sore has been there for about three weeks, only now gotten bigger. I returned the pearl gourami friday who had begun picking on him. Now it looks like he could have early stages of ich, but I'm not quite sure. Only a couple tiny dots of white on his head.

Hi,

Cories should not be in a cycling tank. And that may have caused him getting the sore and now possibley ick.

Keep treating him with meds and see what happens. Just don't get anymore Cories until your tank is finished cycling.

Good luck!
