I had a problem with algae on the glass and got a few siamese algae eaters.
I found that the larger ones were sucking on my rather slow dojo loach/chinese weather loach.
So, they went back to the local dealers and I traded them for a new plant.
My Dojo developed a red spot on him like an open wound. Im not able to use antibiotics in the tank (I lost some kuhlis that way once, so, I dont risk it). I used a loach safe parasite remover and still he showed no signs of getting any better.
After about a week the wound started to heal, I thought he would be fine. but then he started to develop lumps on the rest of him. I now have him in a quarantine tank with antibiotics, but their not helping, he looks like a crinkle fry he is so lumpy.
I have had three different occasions with this loach where I thought he would die. He has been a very sickly loach since I have had him.
1. When I got him, and I was new to the fish world and my tank finally had been cycled and I just wanted something other than feeder fish. I found some dojos around town after calling around. I found a store that had two dojos. I went to the store and fell in love with them, they were beautiful. then I found out that the little white spots all over him were ick and not just speckles. the store sold me fish that were covered in ick from head to toe. The little one died, but this guy lived. and all my other fish got ick.
2. I made the mistake of buying a puffer and he ate all this guys fins off, I mean he was just a little nub. poor guy, but he recovered in the Quarantine tank after about a month or so.
3. Once he over ate and just started swimming upside down and floating at the top for a while, he swam all screwy everywhere, he was looking terrible
4. I left one weekend and my skunk botia had gone crazy and killed 3 of my dojos, just picked them to death, I put them in a spare jar, and the jar turned red. I cried, I named all them, they were so beautiful. The skunk spent "hard" time (two weeks) alone in a small beta tank before I bought my second 50g for my semi aggressive fish.
