Well my buddy has a betta that appears to have fin rot, yes we have discussed how this came about too and now they are aware. We are in the process of taking care of this I just had a few questions about some meds before we just jumped in and possibly killed stuff. I hate treating with any kind of meds besides bunches of w/c but this fin rot case needs meds. The poor betta's dorsal fin has almost been eaten away. The fish has not ate in 3 days and the owner got a butt chewing for waiting so long to bring this issue to my attention.
Water params are stable now after a 75% wc. Nitrates were 40+, I didn't wait for the readings after it went over 20.
ph: 7.5
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 5
temp: 79*-80*
Ammonia and nitrite was at 0 before wc too.
In this tank there are other inhabitants, brigg-1, cherry shrimp-approx 20. I was thinking about using just bettafix to start the healing process and just continue with daily if not every other day 20% w/c.
Will the bettafix damage or kill the brigg/shrimp.
P.S. there isn't a relocation possible at this time on the shrimp.
Any advice is appreciated, Thanks!
