My mystery snail appears to be sick. It is not floating, but sticking to the glass at the very top of the water, with its "face" withdrawn. There is a lot of slimy something or other lingering near and on its foot. There are a few small chunks of dark matter in the slime near its body.

Yesterday I saw he was behind my filter and thought nothing of it, but now that he's up front and I can see the strangeness, I can also see the nasty stuff stuck to where he was in the back.

He is in a 10 gal community tank with cories and male guppies. Water parameters are good, temp is 79F

I appreciate any help anyone has to offer.

Have you got pics, hard to say much without being able to see. The dark matter is probably waste. My snails spend a lot of time at the water line as they know thats the best place to collect food.

Hmm...I wouldn't say it was sick...I agree with stezatois, the dark matter is waste. The reason I say it's not sick is because I own a brig who does pretty much the same thing. He's just fussy, only moving and eating when he wants to, and always getting in the way of the goldies by just sticking to the glass, or 'curled up' on the gravel like he's dead.
