My biggest oscar that i have had for 5 months now has gotten sick. i brought a diseased oscar home not knowing it, but got rid of it and treated my water with medication. now two weeks later my bigger oscar is showing the same symptoms and they actually started today. it almost looks as though he is shedding. i think it may be fungus but not sure. but his skin is literally falling off. any ideas?

the tank is fine the bacteria levels are fine the tank is established and i know how to do water changes. no feeder fish to much mess and money. now back to the original question...What does he have?
well, if everything is "fine" why do you suppose your fish has a problem?! pathogens and parasites do not typically overcome healthy and well conditioned fish ... fish succumb to disease when they are weakened by any of the long list of environmental problems that can occur in a box of water. since you're so knowledgable on what it takes to keep your fish healthy, i'm sure i don't have to list all the many possibilities. i asked the questions because i was hoping to gain some knowledge about your tank conditions, the fish in the tank and how you maintain them. but you already know everything so don't bother to share with us.
can you imagine calling up your doctor and saying "hey doc, my skin is falling off .. kinda like i'm shedding .. what is it?" wouldn't you expect your doctor to ask you some questions so he might gain some insight into what might be causing your problem? would you respond to those questions with "hey doc, i know how to take care of myself so quit with the questions and just tell me what i've got". if you did that, he might hang up on you. that's what i'm going to do.

how is he going to get any help if he is unwilling to answer any questions about his tank...
it is not right to just assume or guess what problem is going on without background info on water parameters, tank size, tankmates etc.... because for all u know.. these things could be causing the problems...
which is why rbishop is asking these questions again..
besides... why won't sum1 wanna talk abt his tank when he has a problem going on? i just don't see the point... he is asking help but he is being stubborn abt getting any :huh:
