I’m reading about silver tip tetras as I’m debating getting some for my 20G. Currently the only inhabitants are 5 peppered cories. Anyone who has some, can you tell me what they’re like?? Ideally I’d like some cardinal tetras too whenever my lfs gets more. Was also debating about a gourami of some sort too, again whenever the store gets more.

Do you think they are a good choice?? I don’t want anything aggressive or super nippy! Been there, done that with tiger barbs ?.

Thanks!

Here are mine :)

I bought them as gold tetras, but they in fact silver tip tetras.

I have them in my 20g blackwater. They are torpedo shaped, about the size of a rummynose i'd say. I love mine bc they fit so well with a natural style blackwater tank. Mine are pretty timid, I had a group of 10, maybe they need more. But I like their timid behavior for this tank. Also I was surprised how gold they look, hence why they were sold as gold tetras.

They are perfect for the tank size imo, not aggressive or nippy at all. They like to school together even without any predator fish. I really like them.

Well, I had the opposite experience with them in a 20g long. The were very nippy to each other & cherry barbs I think. I had 8 maybe. I was very surprised!

I'd go with a male honey gourami or maybe a M & F pair, the cardinals, say 10 & corys. Maybe a couple more corys of the same species too, the more there are, the more fun. They might even breed for you.
