Single Discus

can you safely keep a single discus in a 29gal tall

any input would be great

Discus are social fish and need at least 5 in a group to feel comfortable. If they are not comfortable they can stress and die.

A single discus wouldnt be happy at all. They are a social, schooling fish. I think most fish would like to have a same species buddy. I have always found it fascinating that...although the fish have never seen their own reflection to observe what they look like, they sure do know when one of their own kind is in the tank!

You can do a breeding pair in a 29 gal. If they are not a breeding pair, no.

They are big fish and would need at least a 40g tank for a breeding pair IMO. Remember, if they are not happy, they will die and cost you a lot of money.

i had Discus in the past and i had 7 of them in a 100gal for the most part they got along fine, i am not sure about the the 29 gal i have never stocked that small of a tank
i have a nice 29 and i like Discus so i was thinking of getting 1 Discus and maybe a nice Betta as a friend and leave it at that
i guess i am just thinking out load
