One of my goldfish has a single white "pimple" which has been growing a bit. Another one has what looks like dropsy. I've isolated both in a hospital tank and have been adding ParaGuard as advised by the fish shop person. The fish were happy and acting normal in the big tank but since being moved they just hide in the log and have no interest in eating. I'm not sure if the treatment is doing any good but I don't want them to be with the remaining healthy fish in case it's contagious. I have also lost one recently - it was one of the long tail ones and it developed a curvature of the spine - seemed perfectly normal acting until one day it was face down in a decoration. I inherited the fish from a friend who moved away and have had them for a year without any problems. I test the water once a week and have two big filters on the tank. Fish seems pretty happy and growing except the aforementioned casualties... I'm having a hard time diagnosing their illness and proper treatment. Thanks.

Hi there! Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time with your fish. First, is the product that you use for the ich (Ick) treatment the color blue? If not, get a product with the blue color (the blue is a special chemical and is healthier for fish). I recommended Rid Ich by Korden or Aquarium Salt the next time you clean the tank. As for him/her not eating, I would try a healthier/ tastier food. I use frozen blood worms and/or freeze dried brine shrimp. If it still doesn't eat, I sometimes use a product called Garlic Guard by Seachem. Just put a few drops on your food and let it soak for about 1-2 minutes. After a few days of garlic treatment, your fish should eat. I recently got a large, skiddish angelfish who wouldn't eat for 3 weeks! After a few days of frozen blood worms and Garlic Guard, he started to eat! Hope this helps!

Welcome and sorry to hear of your issues! What size tank are these fish in and do you do weekly water changes? If so, how much water do you change?
