Sinking Veggys for Plecos

What is the fork made of... true good quality stainless steel won't rust?

Even if it did- I'm deliberately putting steel-wool in my filter to try and get iron in the water... ;) I don't think it's going to hurt anything. As long as the fork isn't valuable or sentimental I don't see it as a major problem.

I have a suction cup Veggie Clip I put my veggies in and stick it to the glass. I leave mine in for a couple of days in which time it is usually completely consumed... don't know how much the Pleco eats though- I've never seen her on the veggies even though I put them in partially for her... she seems content with algae/biofilm and has become heavy with eggs in the past so she must be healthy.

I do peel mine... just assumed the skin would be too tough for the pleco and it only takes a few seconds to peel- then I slice and put in the freezer and take out a piece at a time (dethaw it) and clip it in the tank.

If you use a veggie clip be carefull not to use thick slices- if you make it thick enough- smaller snails will climb into the clip part... then if for some reason the veggie falls out the snail gets crushed... I've a poor little ramshorn with a damaged shell from just this scenario... acts normally though even though there are visible cracks around its shell.

i nuke the zukini for 1 minute i cut it in spears i use a veggie clip to hold it down i have used a stain less steel fork it won't rust i leave it in for about 2 days they eat the whole thing i don't peal it they like the green out side also

Hey, Does carrots make your plecos seem any brighter in red or do your plecos' colors seem the same?

I use the rubber band and rock method.
Gold Nuggest are carnivores though. The majority of their diet should be meat/protein. For my L114 I rubber band a shrimp to a rock and he loves it :-)

Hey ksane, Do plecos really eat shrimp? Are you talking about raw, straight out of the market shrimp? Don't those contain chemicals to keep them fresh?

My L114 is a carnivore and he sure eats it. I never had much luck getting Gold Nuggets to eat ANYthing at all. I bought 2 at different times and they both died right away. I get my shrimp at WalMart frozen in bags. I wouldn't use bait shop shrimp but human grade shrimp would be great for carnivores. WalMart also has mussels still in the shells that my Oscars love. Not sure if you're in the states or not though.

Nuggets are carnivores, he would need meat in his diet along with occasional veggie wafer or zuchinni or carrots. I give mine earthworm sticks, occasionally frozen bloodworms and shrimp, along with veggies mentioned above.

I use Skewers to for cucumber and squash.
