So I have never really looked at my fish once the lights go out, but just now I went to check on my rummys and noticed that 3 of them were just sitting on the bottom (1 was zipping back and forth like a typical rummynose tetra). I then looked at the betta we have, and he was doing the same, just laying on the bottom of the tank. He swam up to the top a couple times, but for the most part just lays really still at the bottom, is all this normal?

My angels usually just hang out in one space once the lights go out, but I have never really seen them laying at the bottom of the tank. The corys, plecos and otos are usually most active in the dark.

Thanks.

My neons sleep on the bottom of the tank and my bettas all have special spots where they sleep. I have a ruined castle in one of my tanks and my male betta sleeps in there. It is so funny to watch him emerge from the broken turret. I am still trying to get pictures of it. My other betta drapes himself over one of the moss balls like a blanket.

My rosy barbs sleep with their noses pointed to the gravel. It freaked me out when I first saw it, but it's all normal fish sleeping behavior.

Same thing with my Tiger Barbs. My Neons seem to sleep on the bottom and I think they even turn kind of opaque-ish at night as well. Odd.

My betta would sit on the rocks in the tank, even during the day.

Now, my guppies, gourami, platy, goldfish, pretty much anything but snails and catfish all sit on the bottom at night. I think it's weird, and it makes me feel bad if I wake them up.

Tiger barbs sleep nose down (normal) and very little movement. MY labs sleep in the java moss suspended like a bed, 1 Oscar is mid-level and faces the back glass, all my cons sleep just off the bottom as do all my community fish. The plecos - no telling where you will find them! The Borelyi sleep in a tight school near the top in a corner.Like humans, they have their favorite sleeping spots and conditions. The other Oscar sleeps just off the bottom and paralell to the tank.
