One thing I have never really been able to get info on is how quickly fish grow.
The reason I ask is that mine seem to be very slow growers, I bought larger than required numbers of fish so that I could grow them out, choose the best personalities, appearence etc once they grew and sell on the rest, also having a load of juveniles means that they are les aggressive than introducing adults. All seems to be working well, but I have had this set up now since about Sept and my juviniles have all grown less than an inch in that time.
Does this seem right?
I was wondering if I was feeding enough tey get pellets one a day and blood worms once a week, I also pop lettice and cabbage and stuff in for the omnivors periodicaly. none of them look skinny, and they wolf their food down in about a minute and then get leary with each other! I just dont want to risk over feeding, but if there is something that will get them bigger quicker I would be interested.

Which tank are you talking about? 125? It may just be that those fish grow slower. I tend to over feed a little But I also do 50 % water changes with a gravel vac every 7-10 days. On fry tanks I change water every 2 days and feed more then I should. The more food the more water changes and slightly increase the water temp has gotten my fish to grow a little faster.

ex.
I had a 10 in the basment 50 room temp the tank never really got Warm but stayed at a constant temp. about 72-75.

I now have the same 10 up on the second floor and I've only have fry in it for a bout 3 weeks, same food, same water change cycle, but the temp of the water can now get to be a little warmer where I want it, about 80. The higher temp speeds up the metabolism of the fish.

Yeah its the 125gl, The Acaras have grown really quickly I have had them about a third of the time as I have had the others and they have doubled in size. The Salvini, JDs and Firemouths have just not really been growing
