I have a small case of fin rot in my cichlid tank, am I ok by dosing with melafix and primafix? I think I have some aggressors in the tank should I also rearrange the tank to split of the territories? I will get water parameters when I get home from work along with some pics of the fish and the tank.

it should work as long as the directions are followed carefully and as always with cichlids when you have an aggressor mixing the rock territories up it may last a day or so but soon new terrotories will be defined and the aggression will continue again the mixing up of rocky territories works great when adding new cichlids but not so much on already established residents so you may be faced with a removal of the bad apple theory, good luck my friend and take care..

Yep mela & pima is not a bad idea for a touch of fin rot.

Most important thing you can do though is keep the water pristine - nitrates right down as far as you can get them. If I was serious about addressing say a touch of fin rot I would do a 50% daily water change for a week before using meds (even low impact stuff like mela/pima). If you do that I'd be very surprised if you don't see an improvement.

Found the issue, I have one that is chasing anything smaller than him, my wife really likes him what can I do? I dont want him to kill anyone, or loose him. Thanks for the help.

put him in fishy timeout aye, hehehe, just joshen my friend man its one of those things aye he is just going to keep chasing unless you either remove him or place something else in there to kick his butt so its a washout aye.. and yeah i have one of those wives that enjoys my fish but doesnt offer to help out on cleanings aye and complains "you setup another tank", your call buddy.. take care and good luck..

I got lucky she will help with cleanings and helps with the maintenance of the tanks, but she wouldnt let me set any more tanks.:irked:

hehehe wives are funny like that, what can ya do thou, later buddy..

if you remove the bully, won't the second man down move up the totem pole so to speak, and you may have the same problem, for n fishes... though fish do differ in personalities and you may just have an ultradominant one.
